How To Unclog A Shower Drain

You can actually use common everyday household items to unclog your shower drain as well as the drains in your kitchen.

More likely than the cause of the clog is hair that probably fell off of you while you were taking a shower. Other times it may be dirt, soap buildup, or something else.  Here are two ways to unclog your shower drain using everyday household items:

Boiling Water

This is probably one of the easiest ways to unclog a shower drain. Grab some water from the kitchen sink(or anywhere else in the house) and put it on the stove. Leave it there until the water starts boiling (you’ll see bubbles forming and steam leaving the water. Once the water is boiled, slowly pour it down the drain. And voila, you’ll have a clear drain once again.

Dish Detergent

If your drain is still clogged, try using a thicker liquid to loosen the hair, dirt(or whatever is down there) that has accumulated to block the drain. Pour ½ a cup of your detergent down the drain followed by boiling hot water. The thick dish detergent will free up whatever is down there and the boiling water will wash it all down thus unclogging your shower drain.
